Last night we were bound (pun intended) for Mikayla’s Oakland Homeschool Music spring choir concert. Twelve choir, band, and orchestra ensembles performed to an audience of over 400 people. All homeschooled kids from elementary to high school ages (with a few adults involved as well).
Man! What a treat! If someone thinks a homeschool music group isn’t worth listening to, maybe the fact that several individual and ensembles received Superior (Division I) and Good (Division II) ratings at state would convince them. My girl is too young to compete at state yet but if she continues, I feel certain she’d be there. Not that I am biased or anything (eh-hem), but singing is definitely one of her gifts.
The Elementary Chorus sung 4 songs. This first one is Glory Bound. We’ve been listening to this song for weeks as it is Rachel’s favorite song. Mikayla would practice while Rachel toots a train whistle sound with her recorder. Of course, that’s my girl smack dab in the center of the video. LOL
Their last song, Music Speaks, was performed with the Chorus and Concert Choir. I just love watching the Concert Choir. The girls wear long flowy maroon dresses and the young men wear tuxes. And their voices… heavenly. I get chills. I digress a bit… but this next song is awesome! Enjoy!
